Prayer Chapel

Prayer Chapel_pg1

Out of a small, broom closet in a sixty-year old modernist Church designed by Paul Thiry, this Prayer Chapel was created as a place for congregants to experience prayer and the very human moment of lighting a candle in prayer. Adding a south wall to create an entry, separated from the busy entry narthex, the visitor moves along the gold leaf wall, around to face a translucent glass wall with words from the Scripture inscribed in the glass overlooking a spare, Northwest garden. Once inside, the visitor is invited to light the candle, on the cast bronze candlestick in the natural rock. Seating for one or ten is possible in the chapel on simple moveable chairs.
